The NG9-1-1 Interoperability Task Force (ITF, or Task Force) is not a part of NENA.

In fall 2020, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) project brought together a group of organizations to investigate a comprehensive NG9-1-1 test plan. DHS held a summit in 2022 which consisted of DHS, NENA, NASNA, iCERT, NIOC, DISA, DOT, CISA, and TAMU. A framework proposal was drafted, and the NG9-1-1 Interoperability Task Force was born.

The ITF is an independent organization made up of members of multiple groups.
